INTRODUCTION
As a developer and designer, I noticed a recurring problem in the tech community. There were plenty of places to learn, plenty of places to apply for jobs, and plenty of places to showcase projects. But there wasn't a single ecosystem where developers could consistently discover opportunities, prove their skills, participate in challenges, and build credibility based on actual performance. Most platforms focused on one part of the journey. Some focused on learning. Others focused on hiring. Others focused on hackathons. I wanted to create a platform that connected all of these pieces together. That idea eventually became FindCoder. My goal was simple: create a place where developers could find opportunities, participate in meaningful projects, compete in hackathons, earn recognition, and grow their careers through demonstrated skill rather than just resumes.
DESIGNING METHOD
During my research and conversations with developers, I noticed three common challenges. First, many talented developers struggled to find meaningful projects that could help them build experience and visibility. Second, hackathons and coding opportunities were often scattered across different platforms, making discovery difficult. Third, there was no clear way for emerging developers to build credibility and stand out beyond traditional resumes or portfolios.
This created a fragmented experience where developers had to constantly switch between multiple platforms to find opportunities, participate in events, showcase their work, and connect with potential employers. I believed there was an opportunity to build a centralized ecosystem that brought these experiences together.
FINAL PERFORMANCE
FindCoder evolved into much more than a project discovery platform. It became a developer growth ecosystem designed around participation, visibility, recognition, and opportunity. The project allowed me to work across every stage of product creation—from identifying a problem and defining the product vision to designing user experiences, structuring platform architecture, and launching a functional product. More importantly, it taught me how to think like a founder rather than just a designer. I learned how product strategy, user motivation, community building, and business objectives intersect to create successful digital products. FindCoder remains one of the most valuable projects in my portfolio because it demonstrates not only my design skills, but also my ability to identify opportunities, define products, and build solutions from the ground up.
